2nd Sept - Weekly News
Hello Shammies,
3 Shammies Grades and a large contingent of headed to Windsor for 2010 Finals footy.
Colts started the day off coming from behind to end Gordon's 2010 campaign with a well-struck penalty 5 mins from time to win 11-10 - nail biting stuff.
4th Grade started like a house on fire in their major final versus Brothers who had no answer to the Shammies onslaught however a half time breather and a multitude of unsportsman-like stoppages, assisted with a large number of missed tackles, allowed the Brothers veteran squad to recoup and score a number of easy tries to get up 22-8.
2nd grade was an arm wrestle of a contest in unscheduled baking weather versus a very large Merrylands side. The lads started well getting points on the board early but Merrylands countered everytime. With less than 10 minutes to go the Shammies took a 1 point lead before Merrylands countered yet again with a skillfully (bloody fortuitous) chip and chase that put the bad guys in the lead by 6. Our boys regrouped to hammer the Merrylands line for the remainder of the match but all credit to their rugby league on-line defense which finally frustrated the Shammies. Our second graders eventually went down 25-19 but it was a stoic effort by the lads not only for their semi-final performance but their remarkable season turn around that had the side placing 8th at the half-way mark. So marks the end of a Farrant cup dynasty that consisted of 3 straight premierships. Let's get it back in 2011 - a great year nonetheless.
So now for this weekend - our two 2010 Premiership hopefuls head to Wills Field (cnr Lang and Wardell roads Earlwood) to battle it out for a place in the GF. Support is crucial to help our guys get over the line. And being this is practically a home game let's get down to the ground in droves.

END OF SEASON TOUR
With our veteran team heading to the Gold Coast for the Pan-Pacific Masters in November to defend and improve on their World Masters Games Bronze the lads will need all the support they can get. Therefore the brains trust of this club - me - has decided that the Shammies shall head north to the sun, sand, surf and support our boys whilst getting immensely intoxicated.
Dates are Fri 12-Nov to Sun 14-Nov. In the coming weeks I will be releasing flight and accommodation suggestions. Like the Bryon tour of 2008 the onus is on you to grab a couple of your club mates, book your flight, book your room (you can generally get 3 or 4 in per room) and let me know so we can arrange your tour shirt. If you want to drive so be it, if you want to stay longer it's all up to you.
See you all on Saturday
