26th August - Weekly News

Hello Shammies,

An overall sound day out at Epping to finish up the 2010 regular reason however not all the results going the way we envisaged and hoped.  Big wins for 2's, 4's and 5's.  Not as fortunate for Colts, who went down 5-0, 3's where the game slipped away at the end and 1's who missed out on a place in the finals by 6 bloody points - but an absolutely sterling effort by the lads who gave everything they had.

All in all for 2010 Petersham finished 3rd on the Club Championship Ladder - a great club effort.  Be sure to check out the website for all our final standings.

This week is semi-finals with Petersham featuring in 2's, 4's and Colts.  With all 3rd Division clubs venturing out to Derrubbun Park, Cornwallis Road, Windsor, please note and factor in the earlier start times and distance to Windsor, if driving out.

9.50am     Colts v Gordon (and I personally apologise to all colts players I advised incorrectly that you were playing in the major semi).
11.20am  4th grade v Brothers
1.45pm    2nd grade v Merryland

**IMPORTANT** ALL SQUAD MEMBERS MUST BRING SOME FORM OF OFFICIAL ID - PASSPORT, DRIVERS LICENSE, RTA PROOF OF AGE CARD - no other forms accepted.

Now being that this new ground is quite the distance, with an early start and 3 teams on showing the Club is providing a Bus.  Team squads and as much support as the bus can squeeze in are strongly advised to get on board.

Departing: 7.15am from Camperdown Oval - yes 7.15 because Colts start early.
Cost: $20
Theme: Shammies Kit - Maroon & Blue

SHAMMIES PRESENTATION EVENING
Friday 24 th or Saturday 25th of September are the tentative dates for this years presentation evening - please note we are strongly considering a Friday night event due to booking schedules with this year's event venue which for 2010 is certainly something new for Petersham and bound to please.
Details of the night will be released very soon.

END OF SEASON TOUR
With our veteran team heading to the Gold Coast for the Pan-Pacific Masters in November to defend and improve on their World Master's Games Bronze the lads will need all the support they can get.  Therefore the brains trust of this club - me - has decided that the Shammies shall head north to the sun, sand, surf and support our boys whilst getting immensely intoxicated.
Dates are pencilled in as Fri 12-Nov to Sun 14-Nov.  In the coming weeks I will be releasing flight and accommodation suggestions.  Like the Bryon tour of 2008 the onus is on you to grab a couple of your club mates, book your flight, book your room (you can generally get 3 or 4 in per room) and let me know so we can arrange your tour shirt.  If you want to drive so be it, if you want to stay longer it's all up to you.

See you all on Saturday
