Hello Shammies,
Not a bad day at the office for the Shammies versus the Mountain men from Lapstone. Colts earned a hard fought 28-0 forfeit. 5's battled out a 14-7 win. 4's started off well before allowing Blue Mts back into the game, still a bonus point 27-22 win will suffice. 3's suffered a 25-0 loss to a team heading to the finals, unfortunately we played like a team knowing we weren't. 2nd grade upset the Farrant cup competition leaders again brushing Blue Mts aside 25-13. Unfortunately first grade ran out of time with a remarkable second half comeback going down 24-21.
This week versus Epping at Somerville Park is HUGE for the Shammies determining crucial finishing places on the table and positions in the finals next week.
5th grade - opportunity to secure 3rd spot on the Halligan's cup competition table - unfortunately finals are not played in this competition however a 3rd place finish is a massive effort considering the 20+ teams that contest the cup as well as the fact that it also comprises teams from 1st to 4th division subbies. Go for Bronze lads!
Colts - a win over your joint competition leaders will not only secure an inaugral colts minor premiership for Petersham but further knock the confidence out of Epping as you both head into finals next week.
4th grade - need the win to finish second spot on the table and if Merrylands continue their form a win over Brothers will give our lads top spot. Can't believe I'm saying this but "Go Merrylands".
3rd grade - lads...a couple of late losses cost us a finals spot however this game will dictate whether we or Epping finish 6th - this season shall not finish on a loss.
2nd grade - must win lads to keep 4th spot...the season turn around of the century!
1st grade - Petersham are 5th, Epping are 2 points ahead in 4th. Nothing more to say.
All up an outstanding club performance will mean 5 teams in semi finals - I don't think any further motivation for this weekend is required.
