Welcome to the Petersham RUFC, established in 1883. Australia’s original and oldest “Subbies” rugby club!
Since our club’s founding, back in 1883, the men of Petersham RUFC have always been at the heart of grass roots rugby in Australia.
From participating in Australia’s first ever junior rugby competition, to being founding members of what is now the NSW Suburban Rugby Union, we have won the Kentwell Cup, Subbies Rugby’s biggest prize, on four occasions. And through it all we have held fast to the true spirit of rugby.
We welcome all. We tour the world. We played for love, not money. We’re the best of mates and the toughest of foes. Come and be part of Petersham RUFC Subbies Rugby.
Petersham usually fields five senior rugby teams catering for all standards of player, as well as a netball club for the better halves. We are a famously social bunch, providing plenty of off field activities to round out the total rugby experience. Travellers are always welcome, so if you are looking to spend some time living and working in the Sydney, the Harbour City, please get in touch.
We’re based at Camperdown Oval in the heart of Newtown, in Sydney’s Inner West. Training is on every Tuesday and Thursday, from 6.30pm at Camperdown Oval, Mallett St, Camperdown.
